Arsenal considering double Premier League transfer raid

Arsenal’s search for added quality on the left side of their attack appears to be widening, and Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier is firmly in the frame. According to TEAMtalk, the 27-year-old is attracting serious Premier League attention after a sharp start to the season, with Arsenal and Manchester United both monitoring him closely.

The key line from the report is clear: “Arsenal and Manchester United have both been monitoring Tavernier closely”, while Newcastle United remain interested and Tottenham Hotspur have also looked at him before. For Arsenal, that matters because this is now sounding less like passing admiration and more like sustained background work.

Marcus Tavernier emerging as Arsenal option

Tavernier has “scored six goals in 14 appearances this season”, a return that has naturally sharpened attention around the league. He has been used mainly from the left, though the report makes plain that his profile goes wider than that. His “versatility is a major part of his appeal”, with the ability to feature “across the forward line and in midfield, and has even shown he can do a job at wing-back”.

That flexibility is often what separates a player being watched from a player being seriously considered. Arsenal are said to have “been compiling reports on Tavernier as they assess options to strengthen their left-sided attack”. The wording is significant. Recruitment departments do not intensify that kind of process without a clear tactical conversation taking place behind the scenes.

It is also notable that “The Gunners remain in the market for a new left winger”, and Tavernier’s ability to cover multiple roles could appeal to Mikel Arteta as he looks for depth, adaptability and reliability across a long season.

Bournemouth talent catching Arsenal attention

This is not an isolated check on one player. The same report states that Arsenal are “huge admirers of teenage forward Eli Junior Kroupi”, while “they have been watching midfielder Alex Scott closely”. In other words, Bournemouth have become a serious point of focus for Arsenal’s recruitment team.

That feels important. When one club repeatedly studies another squad, it usually reflects trust in the development work being done there, and belief that several profiles may be capable of stepping up. Tavernier’s progress under Marco Rose appears to have elevated him into that conversation.

His “importance” to Bournemouth is growing, and his output in the final third, combined with his tactical usefulness, makes him a player of genuine interest rather than a speculative link.

Manchester United threat to Arsenal pursuit

Manchester United are also in the mix, and the report says their recruitment department is assessing Tavernier “as part of their wider transfer planning”. There is uncertainty around priorities at Old Trafford, with TEAMtalk noting that plans “could change depending on who is appointed as the club’s next head coach if Michael Carrick is sacked”.

For Arsenal, that creates a familiar transfer-market dynamic. If United decide Tavernier fits both their need for attacking depth and their budget parameters, competition can accelerate quickly. Newcastle’s long-standing admiration only adds another layer.

At this stage, nothing suggests a move is advanced. But Arsenal’s work on Tavernier, and on Bournemouth more broadly, looks deliberate and informed. This is one to watch carefully.

Our View

Tavernier is an intriguing name because he does not fit the obvious superstar mould, yet there is plenty about this that makes football sense. Arsenal have often looked at players who can solve more than one issue at once, and Tavernier seems to do exactly that. A left-sided attacker who can also operate deeper or wider gives the squad more balance, especially when fixture pressure builds.

The most interesting part of this report is not even the player alone, it is the pattern. Arsenal watching Tavernier, Eli Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott suggests the club sees Bournemouth as a place where smart recruitment can still be done. That is encouraging, because not every addition has to be a headline signing for £100m. Sometimes the most effective moves are the ones that improve the floor of the squad and raise competition levels immediately.

There will be questions over whether Tavernier has the elite output to become a first-choice attacker, and that is fair. But if the idea is to add depth, tactical flexibility and Premier League-tested quality, then this feels logical. Six goals in 14 games is not a trivial return, and versatility always carries real value in a system as demanding as Arteta’s.

If Arsenal are serious, the timing matters. Once Manchester United and Newcastle are firmly in the picture, deals become harder, slower and more expensive. This may not be the most glamorous link of the window, but it has the feel of a very credible one.
