ESPN recently published an article highlighting Game 6 of the WNBA Finals, which is set to take place later tonight between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream. The article mentioned that WWE offered to adjust the timeslot for SmackDown this Friday to accommodate the game.
It was also reported that there were concerns regarding the scheduling and location of the game, as the Atlanta Hawks are playing on Thursday at the State Farm Arena. Sources indicated that Hawks and State Farm Arena CEO Steve Koonin contacted Nick Khan, requesting that he move the broadcast of this week’s SmackDown on the USA Network back by an hour to 9 PM ET. This adjustment would allow the WNBA Finals to air on the USA Network from 7 PM to 9 PM ET. Khan agreed, stating they would be willing to make this change to enable the Finals to “play in a more appropriate arena.”
Ultimately, this adjustment did not take place. The WNBA's concern was that they did not want a potential Game 7 to occur on Tuesday, which would coincide with US midterm election night coverage. Therefore, Game 6 will now take place on Thursday at 12:30 PM ET.
