Liverpool are increasingly likely to sign Lamine Camara in January

Links between Liverpool and Lamine Camara persist as the January transfer window approaches.

At the same time, it appears Ryan Gravenberch is being offered a “lucrative” move to Trabzonspor, which would open space in the Liverpool midfield for the arrival of Camara.

Trey Nyoni started against Arsenal on Sunday, with the faith shown in him by Andoni Iraola simultaneously a show of lack of faith in Gravenberch, who stayed on the bench all game.

Many fans wanted to see Camara join the Reds in the summer, but new reports suggest this could happen in the winter window.

Links between Liverpool and Camara intensify

On Monday, a report from Tuttomercatoweb reported that Liverpool will offer around €50m to sign Camara from AS Monaco, which is €5m more than Chelsea agreed to pay before a deal collapsed right before Deadline Day.

Now, Football Insider reports that Monaco are ready to greenlight the midfielder’s departure.

They report: “Sources say that there is a “willingness” from both Monaco and Camara to negotiate a sale, after he was denied a move to Chelsea in the summer.

“Monaco were keen to offload either Camara or striker Folarin Balogun in the summer, but ultimately ended up keeping hold of both stars.

“That situation now looks set to play into Liverpool’s hands, with Monaco still in need of a significant sale to balance their books moving forward.

“Camara’s reputation means that he still commands a sizeable valuation, which has made a sale likely as a result. Chelsea initially had a £47million deal in place, and sources say that it will require a fee in the region of the £50m mark for a deal to be done this winter.”

Whether it’s €50m or £50m, it would be a bargain for Camara. The 22-year-old is one of the best ball-winning midfielders in Europe and fits perfectly the style of football that Andoni Iraola has brought to Anfield.

Hopefully Liverpool can get this deal across the line. Not because it would change their prospects this season, but because it would mean he would be fully settled by the time the 2027/28 season begins.
