The Indianapolis Colts are 2-5 following their third consecutive loss to the Minnesota Vikings. It was again another rough outing for QB Daniel Jones, but Shane Steichen said afterward that he does not plan on making a change.
“Because I got a ton of faith in Daniel (Jones)," Steichen said, via The Athletic's James Boyd. "The game plan today was to go in and run the football. Obviously, at the end he had the interception and that happens in football.”
On Sunday in Minnesota, Jones would complete 13 of 22 passes for only 108 yards while throwing his seventh interception of the season, not to mention that he had a few other near-picks fall to the ground.
The Colts averaged just 3.7 yards per play, with the passing game disjointed for much of the day.
These struggles have been season-long. On the year, Jones is completing just 59.6% of his passes at only 5.8 yards per attempt with four touchdown passes to seven interceptions. Jones has lost a few fumbles as well.
That said, there hasn't been a lot of help around Jones either. He's been pressured heavily over the last two weeks, the run game has mostly been lackluster, and the receivers aren't providing any vertical presence.
But as the quarterback, it starts and ends with Jones, and until he improves, the offense is going to continue to struggle.
