FA Cup: Aldershot Town win fourth qualifying round replay at Tadley Calleva to set up trip to Barnsley
Action from Aldershot Town's FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay at Tadley Calleva

Aldershot Town reached the first round proper of the FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win at Tadley Calleva in their fourth qualifying round replay.

First-half goals from Nino Adom-Malaki and Marcus Dinanga fired the Shots to victory at Barlows Park and set up a trip to Oakwell to face League One outfit Barnsley in the first round proper.

The Shots were quick out of the traps and nearly took an early lead in the third minute, when Dinanga's header crashed off the top of the crossbar.

Aldershot went close again two minutes later, when Adom-Malaki’s cutback found Kiki Oshilaja, who worked half a yard of space in the box before firing his shot just over the bar.

The Shots got the early goal their dominance deserved on eight minutes, when Adom-Malaki’s precise low finish from just outside the box found the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Aldershot doubled their advantage five minutes later, when Conor Lawless’ incisive through ball opened up the Tadley defence and found Dinanga, who calmly slotted his finish into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

The Shots almost went 3-0 up in the 16th minute when Ollie Harfield whipped a superb left-footed cross into the box which found Brody Peart, who rose highest at the back post and powered his header just over the bar.

Shots boss Scott Davies had to make an enforced change in the 28th minute, with Hakeem Sandah replacing the injured Adom-Malaki.

Aldershot created another excellent opportunity to score a third on 41 minutes. Lawless’ incisive through ball found Marcus Wyllie, who unselfishly squared the ball to Basil Tuma, whose effort from a tight angle hit the side netting of the near post.

The Shots won a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the box in the 64th minute, but Peart’s effort was comfortably held by Tadley keeper Donnie Burke.

Davies made his second change of the evening on 76 minutes, with Jacob Borgnis replacing Tuma. Aldershot’s manager made his third substitution seven minutes later, with Jack Matton replacing Oshilaja.

The Shots had a late chance to score a third when Dinanga raced through on goal in the 89th minute, but Burke was off his line quickly to narrow the angle and block Dinanga’s effort.

The visitors had a golden chance to go 3-0 up in stoppage time when Harfield flashed an inviting ball across the box to Wyllie, whose glancing effort went wide of the far post.

Aldershot saw out the closing stages professionally to seal a comfortable win and set up a trip to Barnsley in the first round proper on the weekend of Saturday, November 7.

Next up for the Shots is a home game against Wealdstone in the National League on Saturday, October 24 (3pm kick-off).

Aldershot Town: Nick Hayes, Kiki Oshilaja (Jack Matton 83), Michael Stickland, Ollie Harfield, Brody Peart, Dominic Odusanya, Conor Lawless, Nino Adom-Malaki (Hakeem Sandah 28), Basil Tuma (Jacob Borgnis 76), Marcus Dinanga, Marcus Wyllie.
