PHILADELPHIA -- As the Philadelphia 76ers continue on with the 2026-27 season, they are dealing with some little injuries at the moment.
The Sixers have not had Dominick Barlow all season as he recovers from a bothersome back injury while Joel Embiid is now dealing with a right foot plantar fascia issue. The 2023 MVP winner missed Saturday's win over the Charlotte Hornets on the second night of a back-to-back and was listed as questionable against the Chicago Bulls on Monday.
The Sixers say Embiid will play against the Bulls, but coach Nick Nurse and Co. are looking to be smart with the plantar fascia issue. It's a tricky injury.
"Well, you know, plantar is a little bit of a come-and-go type of thing, right?" said Nurse pregame. "So they're just trying to manage it. It's very painful if you've ever had it, right? And it’s kinda come and go. So, we’re just trying to manage the pain with that and be as smart as we can."
As for Barlow, he did warm up before the game as he was able to move around a bit, but Nurse said the big man is set to see a specialist on Tuesday about his back.
"He’s actually seeing a specialist tomorrow," Nurse explained. "He's been on court a little bit, not a ton yet, not a ton of movement around. I think they want to get to tomorrow's appointment. Hopefully, it'll be positive where he can get into his workouts a little bit."
The Sixers and the Bulls will tip off at 7:30 p.m. EST on Monday before Philadelphia hits the road to face the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday to start a 3-game trip.
