Manchester City are currently going through the appeal process after being found guilty of 114 breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations. But things could still get worse for the Citizens.
The Premier League announced in September that City had been found guilty of artificially inflating sponsorship deals during the nine years from 2009 to 2018.
City have maintained their innocence and the outcome of the appeal process is expected in the coming months. However, The Independent is now reporting that multiple executives want further investigations.
The Premier League are said to be facing a 'dilemma' as English football chiefs are pushing for further investigations into Man City's conduct.
More specifically, they are asking questions about the years that followed 2018. It is believed that directors are questioning whether the inflated sponsorship deals simply stopped in 2018, despite commercial income appearing to remain at the same level.
