Skye Blakely earns 4 medals at historic World Gymnastics Championships

Florida gymnastics' junior standout Skye Blakely wrapped up a historic performance at the 2026 World Gymnastics Championships on Sunday at Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands, finishing sixth in the balance beam final to close a week that included a world all-around title.

Blakely led all women at the championships with four medals: gold in the all-around, silver in the team competition and bronze on vault and uneven bars. She was the only woman to qualify for four individual event finals.

Her all-around victory made Blakely the ninth American woman to win a world title in the event and the first gymnast to compete in NCAA gymnastics and capture a world all-around championship in the same calendar year.

Blakely also joined Gator graduate Leanne Wong — who claimed all-around silver at the 2025 World Championships — as the only gymnasts to earn a world all-around medal in the same year they competed collegiately.

The Frisco, Texas, native is now a member of an elite group of American gymnasts, featuring Simone Biles, Nastia Liukin and Rebecca Bross, who have won at least four medals at a single World Championships.

The milestone performance marked another chapter in Blakely's remarkable comeback from a right Achilles tendon injury she suffered during podium training at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials that ended her hopes of competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Sunday's balance beam final was the second of Blakely's career. She also reached the event final at the 2022 World Championships, finishing fifth.

The 2026 championships marked Blakely's fourth senior World Championships appearance. She previously helped the United States win team gold in 2022 and 2023, adding team silver this year. Her individual World Championships results also include a fifth-place balance beam finish in 2022 and fourth place on uneven bars in 2025.

The U.S. went one-two in today's floor exercise final to close the women's competition. Claire Pease won gold at 13.866 and Reese Esponda took the silver at 13.566.
