Cameroon will be looking to put another major tournament disappointment behind them as they continue their preparations for the next Africa Cup of Nations.
The Indomitable Lions reached the quarter-finals of the 2025 tournament in Morocco, showing signs of promise under head coach David Pagou.
Their campaign ended in January after a 2-0 defeat against the hosts, with goals from Brahim Diaz and Ismael Saibari sending Cameroon home.
Despite the elimination, Pagou praised his players for their efforts, particularly given the number of younger footballers involved in his squad.
The five-time African champions have since turned their attention towards qualifying for the 2027 edition, with a new generation expected to play an increasingly important role.
Their next fixtures offer another opportunity to build momentum and strengthen their position in the qualification group.
Manchester United duo Bryan Mbeumo and Carlos Baleba have both been selected in Cameroon’s 28-man squad for November’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Namibia, as they announced on their Instagram page.
The two Premier League players will feature in the double-header scheduled for 12 and 16 November.
Baleba’s inclusion is particularly notable because this is his first Cameroon call-up since joining United from Brighton during the summer.
The midfielder has gradually worked his way towards full match fitness and recently made his fifth appearance for United in the 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth.
He has started the last two league matches, giving Carrick another option in the middle of the pitch.
Bryan Mbeumo, meanwhile, has continued to be an important attacking option for United since arriving from Brentford.
His international experience also makes him a significant figure for Cameroon, having captained the national team during the previous international break.
Cameroon currently lead Group G, which also contains Namibia, Comoros and Congo.
The November fixtures could prove important in their attempt to secure a place at the 2027 tournament.
