Liverpool fans told they are about to see a young player with ‘speed and pace’ unleashed by Andoni Iraola

Liverpool supporters were worried they may not see a Scouser in their team for the first time in decades this season after watching Curtis Jones be sold to Inter Milan.

However, they perhaps did not count on the extent to which Andoni Iraola is keen to give the club’s young players a chance. Iraola has backed Lewis Koumas in particular, and the Welshman has already repaid his faith, grabbing a goal and an assist during Wednesday’s win over LASK.

Koumas is not technically a Scouser, though, and as they continue to look for solutions to cover for Alexander Isak at centre-forward, boxer Tony Bellew has claimed that Jayden Danns‘ return will give Liverpool exactly what they need.

Jayden Danns backed to make Liverpool impact

Though he is a well-known Everton supporter, Bellew also knows Danns personally, having been best friends with the striker’s father, Neil, since a young age.

And while speaking to Everton centric podcast Outside the Box Pod, the boxer has admitted that he can’t wait to watch Danns in action, backing him to show that Liverpool had no need to spend hundreds of millions on their attack.

“I was watching [Liverpool vs LASK] because the baby was on the bench, he’s now in and amongst the first team, Jayden Danns is back,” he said.

“Trust me, you are going to see soon enough, he will be among it, the speed and pace. He’s going to leave a few for dead.”

“I can’t wait to watch him, I just wish it was a blue shirt as I keep telling him, but I will be supporting him in a red shirt.

“Once he’s let off the leash, people will see Liverpool had no need to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on that side of the pitch, you will see. You’ll see.”

Having featured on the bench for Liverpool’s Champions League win on Wednesday, it shouldn’t be long until Danns does get his chance once again.

Seen by many as an even bigger prospect than Koumas, if the 20-year-old can stay fit he could certainly make an impression and ensure that Liverpool do not have to worry about a lack of Scouse representation this term.
