According to WTAE’s Andrew Stockey, Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger and Lieutenant General Robert D. Harterwill will lead the Terrible Towel Twirl before Sunday’s Steelers-Browns game at Acrisure Stadium.
“Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Lieutenant General Robert D. Harter, Chief Army Reserve will lead the Terrible Towel Twirl before kickoff Sunday as part of the Steelers “Salute to Service” activities Sunday at Acrisure Stadium,” Stockey wrote on X.
Roethlisberger is never shy to take digs at the Browns. The future Hall of Fame quarterback still holds a grudge against the Browns for passing on him in the 2004 NFL Draft. Roethlisberger is a born-and-bred Ohioan, but the Browns went with tight end Kellen Winslow II in the first round instead. To say the least, that turned out to be a disaster for the Browns.
Roethlisberger took a shot at the Browns after the Steelers’ Week 4 loss to Cleveland.
“What’s it like losing to Cleveland?” Roethlisberger asked on his Footbahlin podcast. “I don’t know.”
Roethlisberger has extra bragging rights as he boasts a 26-2-1 career record against the Browns all time and a 12-2-1 record in Cleveland.
The Browns are 7-1-1 against the Steelers in Cleveland since 2018. The Steelers absolutely own the Browns in Pittsburgh, however.
The Browns are looking to sweep the Steelers in a season since 1988. They’ve also not beaten the Steelers in Pittsburgh in the regular season since 2003.
Browns players don’t care about the past, however.
“This is a different team, we’re going out there to get a different result,” Browns edge rusher Jared Verse said.
Browns cornerback Denzel Ward echoed Verse’s statement.
“It depends on how you look at it. For me, I think it’s a new game. I don’t look at the history or what happened,” Ward said. “This is two different teams. Different People. We just got to go in, and it’s the same thing, try to go 1-0 this week and get this win. I don’t look at the history of it.”
