Cole Palmer and Estevao Willian played big roles in Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Palmer doubled Chelsea’s lead from the penalty spot after Morgan Rogers had put Xabi Alonso’s side in front shortly after the restart. Estevao failed to get his name on the scoresheet, but the winger still put in a very bright display.
After the game, Alonso praised Estevao, who had two goals disallowed for offside. Plenty of Chelsea supporters were clamouring for the 19-year-old to start, and they finally had their wish granted at lunchtime.

Palmer was also impressed with Estevao’s performance and reminded his manager of how much the Chelsea dressing room adores the young Brazilian. Palmer hopes Estevao’s impact continues, which obviously means seeing his teammate get more starts under Alonso.
In a post-match interview, which has been shared by Chelsea’s official club website, Palmer said: “He needed to be patient for his moment and he got his moment today. You could see in moments he was very good.
“He was unlucky with the offside; I think it was literally a centimetre. But we know the talent he’s got and we all love him. So hopefully he can continue like that.”
That was Estevao’s first start in the Premier League this season, but his lack of game time has not changed Carlo Ancelotti’s opinion of him. Ancelotti has still called up Estevao for Brazil’s upcoming fixtures in the next international break.
Before then, he will have another chance to impress when Chelsea take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light next Sunday. After his display against United, it would be a surprise if he did not retain his place in Alonso’s starting XI.
You could see Estevao was a man with something to prove against United. He was an attacker who was completely fired up.
In total, he took six shots. No player registered more than the Brazil international, according to Sofascore.
Estevao also made three key passes and completed two out of eight crosses. He brought a lot of attacking threat to the pitch.
Estevao was direct and brave as ever. He attempted five dribbles, completing two of them. Rogers’ goal was brilliant and Romeo Lavia put in a terrific performance, but Chelsea fans will be just as happy with Estevao’s contribution on the day.
