Behind Enemy Lines: 5 things to know about the Kansas City Chiefs

The Seattle Seahawks are back in action tonight, which means it is time for another edition of our ongoing series Behind Enemy Lines. Today, we spoke with our friend John Dillon from Chiefs Wire to learn more about Seattle's opponent tonight.

Kansas City is off to yet another hot start and appear to be their usual dominant selves once more. This is another former AFC West opponent that Seattle does not face all too often anymore. Our questions for Dillon, as well as his answers, can be read below!

No. 1 - How has Kenneth Walker III transformed this Chiefs offense?

Andy Reid has finally found a way to balance his legendary air-attack with a steady drumbeat of a ground game. In the past, Reid has struggled to establish the run, but Kenneth Walker has breathed new life into Kansas City’s backfield. Reid is taking full advantage of his new star rusher and isn’t afraid to run the darn ball. Fans in Western Missouri have been waiting for exactly this balance since Reid took over as head coach. The combination of Walker and Patrick Mahomes is, to this point, literally unbeatable.

No. 2 - How has Patrick Mahomes looked post injury?

Mahomes seems to be back in prime form, though his stats through five games aren’t necessarily spectacular. He hasn’t been afraid to scramble or trust his offensive line, which is a good sign, I think. As a team that is almost certainly headed for the playoffs, the Chiefs ultimately just need to keep Mahomes healthy through December and into January.

No. 3 - No Rashee Rice... how do you think this will affect Kansas City's offense?

Honestly, Rice has been one of Kansas City’s most inconsistent contributors this season. He hasn’t looked the part of a star wideout (in my opinion) and his absence will give the Chiefs a chance to give rookie pass-catcher Cyrus Allen more opportunities in the passing game. Expect to see Allen, Jalen Royals, and Nikko Remigio get far more playing time than usual on ‘Sunday Night Football.’

No. 4 - Who is a non-household name Chief we should be aware of?

Rookie running back Emmett Johnson has done an excellent job as the Robin to Kenneth Walker III’s Batman. On paper, he still has plenty of room to improve, but if his performances through five games are any indication, Kansas City found a gem in Round 5 of the 2026 NFL Draft.
