New England Patriots wide receiver Efton Chism III is a worthwhile player to add in fantasy football as the team deals with injuries to its wide receiver unit.
Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins are both currently on injured reserve, stripping the Patriots of two of their top three receivers in the lineup, both of whom play on the outside. Chism has an opportunity to earn more playing time and establish himself in the team's passing attack with both set to miss an extended period of time.
Chism has recorded nine receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown this season. His recent performances offer reasons for optimism. Chism caught two passes for 42 yards and a touchdown against Buffalo in Week 4 before recording five receptions for 57 yards against Las Vegas in Week 5.
That production demonstrates his ability to contribute when given opportunities. Increased involvement may translate into greater fantasy value as the season progresses.
The Patriots' upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bears presents another opportunity for Chism to build momentum. Fantasy managers stand to gain from stashing him on their benches while monitoring his playing time, target share and role in the offense.
While he remains a speculative option, Chism's recent production and the team's injuries make him a player worth adding off the waiver wire.
