PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers were the big winners of the offseason with the big addition of LeBron James in free agency. The Sixers were able to land James following a weeks long negotiation period and were able to add the future Hall of Famer alongside Jaylen Brown to join Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe to make a run at the title.
James is such a smart basketball player and understands what it takes to succeed in this league as evidenced by his four championships, four finals MVP awards, and four regular season MVP awards along with countless other records. He has won and been successful his entire career no matter where he's been. There's always an adjustment period, but it's always followed by success.
Before the Sixers knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, Bucks coach Taylor Jenkins gave his thoughts on James with Philadelphia.
"I mean, just elite basketball player on both sides of the floor," Jenkins said of James. "I think just the connectivity, him, the rest of his teammates are fostering right now early in the season. The way that they're playing, they're outletting the ball, they're kicking it ahead. They're one of the faster-paced teams. Yes, they play in isolations, but then they find their teammates."
To Jenkins' point, superstars are going to have isolation moments. It happens, but the Sixers have been moving the ball and getting everybody involved. The entire starting lineup is averaging 3-plus assists through the first four games of the season and everybody is getting their shots and touches.
"I mean, you look at the shot distribution," Jenkins added. "It's not just one guy shooting all the shots and everyone standing around. Obviously, all their starters in double-digit field goal attempts. The assists. I think they got multiple guys that have three-plus right now. So the selflessness right there. I think it's a trickle-down effect and it just permeates throughout the entire roster. So, that's obviously been one of LeBron's greatest strengths his entire career is just how he can ignite offenses."
With so much talent up and down the roster, the Sixers will be tough to stop once they get chemistry down. The defensive effort has been ahead of their offense to start the season, but Philadelphia is looking to figure all of that out. Jenkins sees it from afar with the Bucks as he knows what James can do.
"On the ball, off the ball, his willingness to run without the ball just becomes infectious," Milwaukee's coach finished. "You see him be bringing the ball right now, and obviously two really top-flight, you know, young guards as well. You got Jaylen Brown, who can also initiate an offense too. So all five of those guys, any given moment, knowing that if they're pushing the charge, everyone's kind of running with them, it's going to be pretty lethal to stop."
