While everyone at Old Trafford is currently blaming the players, it’s abundantly obvious to anyone with a brain that Michael Carrick was yet another dire choice of Utd manager.
‘wit’s this goat tae dae wae Ranjurs’ we hear you cry.
Well, the classic old cliché of ‘you can’t keep sacking managers’ surfaced when Danny Rohl’s failed Rangers era crumbled.
The Happy Clappers would like you to believe they’d prefer we didn’t fire our ex-boss. Or any bosses, for that matter.
In which case we wouldn’t have Derek McInnes today, of course.
Ibrox Noise’s argument wasn’t ‘we can’t keep sacking managers’ but rather ‘we can’t keep hiring the wrong ones‘.
We finally seem to have gotten it right in McInnes, but this is our point with Utd.
They’ve appointed nothing but wrong managers since 2013.
How do you replace Sir Alex, after all?
They’ve made shambles after shambles of appointments and now the fans and media are vaunting a Middlesbrough level coach as not being the problem for Manchester’s red side.
The reality is replacing Walter has been near impossible for Rangers, and how do you replace Sir Alex?
Rangers may have struck gold with Derek McInnes but time will tell on that one, but Michael Carrick was hardly an experienced pro manager with trophies under his belt and Utd in his blood.
And yet the players get the blame.
Ibrox Noise has never subscribed to blaming players.
They follow instructions and if the instructions aren’t good enough, you’re not going to win.
Well, Carrick is out of his depth, but it’s much easier to blame players than admit you made another bad managerial appointment.
We don’t know what the rot at Utd is, but it’s deep. And the ownership are a big part of it. From Glazers to Ratcliffe, they’re horribly run.
Rangers appear to be in better hands and seem to have the right man in the dugout.
But it doesn’t look like Utd’s rot is going to end any time soon.
