Three Eagles players who could be traded amid Jalen Hurts health scare including Saquon Barkley
Saquon Barkley

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman sent a clear message to the league when he agreed to trade away Cam Jurgens, showing they're looking toward the future, with recent developments sure to prompt him to consider his options.

The Eagles acquired a second-round and fifth-round pick from the Baltimore Ravens for their starting center, coming days after right tackle Lane Johnson surprisingly retired. With their offensive line decimated, Philadelphia then saw Jalen Hurts ruled out for the season after a wild situation that has left him with a blood clot in his lungs.

Despite coming into the season among the favorites to challenge for the Super Bowl, the Eagles have shown that they are not afraid to move players if the right offer comes in. Roseman is sure to understand the Eagles are unlikely to challenge without Hurts, with Saquon Barkley's future coming into question.

The Eagles have won a Super Bowl with Barkley, and he should go down as a franchise legend. But as he's set to turn 30 this season and is nearing the end of his career... why keep him?

It's tough to see any scenario in which the Eagles challenge for a Super Bowl in the next two years, with their offensive line now in need of major upgrades and Hurts out for the year. Barkley is already not the player he was two years ago, and he's not going to be able to carry this offense with the line in front of him.

This would be a tough pill to swallow on two fronts. Not only would the Eagles be losing their marquee player, but they would also have $26 million against the cap on his name in 2027.

But there's a world in which the Eagles land a day two pick in what is one of the most loaded draft classes we have ever seen. They really should jump at this if the opportunity arises. The Eagles must now look to the long-term future.

Moro Ojomo (defensive tackle)

Ojomo is probably going to be paid $100 million this offseason, and while he is exactly the kind of player they need to keep hold of — stashing young talent — it's just not realistic in this instance.

Ojomo does start in the Eagles' five-man fronts, but he is unlikely to ever be in their base defense, as he will have to compete with Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter and frequently loses snaps to them.

Davis is the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history, and Carter is the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history. These are the two positions Ojomo plays; they cannot afford to keep him next year.

Instead, they could get back a third-round pick for him, with the team taking him in being at risk of losing him in free agency.

Riq Woolen (cornerback)

Woolen looked to have been one of the shrewder signings in free agency in the entire NFL, with the Eagles adding him alongside Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell.

The former Seattle Seahawks star was on course to be one of the highest-paid corners in the NFL, but sustained a tough year in their Super Bowl-winning season and was benched, compounded by his brutal back-to-back plays against the Los Angeles Rams, which nearly cost Seattle the NFC Championship game.

Woolen signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Eagles, hoping to prove the league wrong. And while he's impressed, he has had a few blunders.

The Eagles are unlikely to extend Woolen after the year, with DeJean and Mitchell set for monster contracts. It makes little sense for him to stay with the team at this point.

A truly unique player, Woolen stands at 6-foot-4 while running a 4.2 as one of the fastest players in the league. If he's able to cut down on the mistakes, he has the capabilities of being one of the better corners in the league.
