Akil Wright says Ross County are ready to focus on Tuesday night’s top of the table League One clash with Hamilton Academical in Dingwall.
Both sides go into the match unbeaten in 11 league matches, sitting level on 31 points having each won at the weekend.
While Hamilton saw off East Fife 2-1, County eased past Airdrieonians 4-0.
Victory in Dingwall was made all the sweeter by Airdrie winning by four goals the last time they travelled north, but rather than revel in that victory, Wright insists focus has already turned to Tuesday night.
“It was another massive three points,” he said after the win over Airdrieonians.
“Last season when they came here, they beat us 4-0, so in that sense it definitely is a nice feeling.
“We’re just fully focused on this season and the task in hand, and we got the result. Now our focus moved on to Tuesday night.
“It’s a big game, and we know they are neck and neck with us, but if I’m honest, we try to go into every game with the same attitude. Nothing really changes, it’s just another game.
“It’s a chance for us to impress again, and hopefully go and get another three points.
“You could say that we could put down a marker. If we win on Tuesday it opens up a gap, so that’s a big incentive, but we have to approach like any other game.
“The fans will be massive, and I’m sure there will be a good turnout. It’s going to be a game that everyone in the league will be watching, so we’re looking forward to it. Hopefully it will be a good game.”
Confidence will certainly be high at both clubs after their start to the campaign, and in both cases that also marks a distinct change in tone from last season.
While Hamilton battled off-field issues that saw a significant points deduction remove any hope of a promotion charge in League One, the Staggies suffered a second straight relegation.
Wright was there for both drops, and he noted how refreshing it is to be winning most weeks again after two years of disappointment.
“You’ve got to enjoy winning games of football, and I think we are at the moment,” he continued.
“It’s a good feeling coming back in after winning, and you want to experience that feeling again and again.
“The lads are working hard to make sure standards don’t drop. At the back it’s a joy to watch, and we have so much quality going forward.
“Brian (Graham) is scoring goals, and we have so much threat out wide with (Richard) Chin, Luke (McCarvel), Adam (Emslie) and Lewis Jamieson.
“There is quality all over the pitch, and it’s a joy to be honest at the minute knowing we’ve got that attacking threat.
“It’s good to have that confidence going into every game, and it’s a big change from the last couple of years.
“You just have to enjoy these moments, and enjoy having a winning mentality. Hopefully the fans are enjoying it as well.”
One thing that may not have been a joy for Wright personally was seeing his goal-bound header against Airdrieonians turned it at close range by Graham, who claimed his hat-trick in the process.
“I headed it, and I thought it was going in, and I just saw his foot connect with it,” he added.
“I was off celebrating as well, but I’ll take the assist. It’s his job to score goals, and mine to defend, and we got a clean sheet and he got a hat-trick, so it was a good day.
“Brian has been so good for us this season, he’s a true leader. The younger players get to see the way he is and acts, and at his age he’s still staying sharp and scoring goals.
“He’s a good role model for all of us really. It shows how much he has looked after himself to keep himself fit.
“He looks young with the way he plays and gets around the pitch, so he’s a joy to have in the dressing room as our captain.”
