The Detroit Pistons came back from 22 points down in the third quarter to defeat the Boston Celtics 121-113 on Tuesday.
The win marked the largest opening day comeback in the play-by-play era.
"The opponent doesn't matter. What people say doesn't matter," Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. "The only thing that matters is if we play Pistons basketball. I thought tonight we found enough stretches where we did, and when we played Pistons basketball, we're hard to beat."
The Pistons used a 23-0 run in the fourth quarter to turn a 99-89 deficit into a 112-99 lead with 3:33 left in the game.
Cade Cunningham finished the game with 22 points and eight assists, with Jalen Duren adding 22 points and nine rebounds.
Duncan Robinson also scored 15 points in the fourth quarter.
"We're a team that's known to be gritty, known to get it out the mud, known to never quit, and that's our identity," Duren said. "Even the guys who are new here are embodying that. And that's why we were able to have the outcome that we had."
Paul George lead the Celtics with a game-high 38 points. Jayson Tatum finished with 13 points and 11 assists while shooting 6-of-23 from the field.
