The Carolina Panthers appear to be adding a bit of depth to their secondary.

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the team is set to sign cornerback Malcolm DeWalt to their practice squad. The 24-year-old rookie was waived by the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.

A Bremerton, Wash. native, DeWalt split his four-year collegiate career between Snow College (2022), Butte College (2023) and the University of Akron (2024 to 2025). He'd then sign on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent this past spring.

DeWalt went on to make Atlanta's initial 53-man roster for the 2026 campaign, but was a healthy scratch through the first six games of the season.

With injuries to starters Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, the Panthers are currently a bit thin at the cornerback position. Carolina is rostering five other corners on their practice squad—Zion Childress, Robert Rochell, DeVonta Smith, Corey Thornton and Marco Wilson.
