Finebaum: ‘It’s embarrassing what (Sarkisian's) done to Arch Manning’

The Longhorns two-game losing streak and the downward spiral of Texas quarterback Arch Manning is all Steve Sarkisian's fault. That's according to ESPN's Paul Finebaum who blames Sark "for every aspect of this.”

The Longhorns have lost two straight games to unranked opponents and have gone from the No. 1 team in the nation to a team that might not even make the College Football Playoff.

Finebaum is pinning all of Texas problems on Sarkisian. It's hard to argue since the "buck stops" with the head coach of a program.

“What a disaster. The absolute arrogance of [Steve] Sarkisian to crack back at people like me and others with the idiotic take of the year that if his [Manning’s] name was Joe Smith, you would be praising him,” Finebaum said on The Matt Barrie Show. “I’m beginning to wonder if Arch Manning should even start. I know he will, and he’s capable of leading them to a win, but I blame Sarkisian for every aspect of this.”

For the second year in a row, Manning is falling short of expectations. Last year, especially at the beginning, it was understandable since Manning was in his first year as a starter. His struggles this season are much harder to understand or forgive.

"And until last week I called (Sarkisian) an elite play caller," Finebaum continued. "He’s not. I have no earthly idea what Steve Sarkisian is doing. I think we all agree he shouldn’t be calling the plays. There’s too many other things going on in that sideline that are distracting, and he has made an absolute mess out of the most talented team in the country.”

The ESPN college football expert believes Sark is ruining Manning and his career and that the coach's handing of the New Orleans native is "embarrassing."

“I know he will, and he’s capable of leading them to a win, but I blame Sarkisian for every aspect of this. And I’m not in that locker room, and I’m not on that practice field. All I can do is that I watch the games like you do, and the rest of America. And this is on you, Sarkisian,” Finebaum said. “It’s terrible. It’s embarrassing what you’ve done to Arch Manning. And I wonder if he’s going to regret the day that he went to play for Steve Sarkisian.”
