Kevin O'Neill, a two-time All-Ireland winner with Down, has passed away.

O'Neill was a key defender as Down became the first Ulster county to lift the Sam Maguire in 1960 when they defeated Kerry in the final at Croke Park to complete a National League and All-Ireland double.

Down then retained the All-Ireland the following year when they defeated Offaly by one point.

O'Neill, who retired from inter-county duty after the second All-Ireland win, was also a four-time Down Senior Football Championship winner in the 1960s with his club Newry Mitchels.

O'Neill's death means his brother, Sean, and captain Kevin Mussen are the two surviving players from Down's All-Ireland winning teams from their golden era in the 1960s.
