Jason Whitlock has opined that the firing of the Indianapolis Colts General Manager Chris Ballard should lead to the departure of Carlie Irsay-Gordon from the sidelines.

He also revealed a name that the team should bring in as the Team President, which would bring a lot of excitement among Colts fans.

The team has struggled in the last few years, failing to make the playoffs since 2021. Since that season, they have failed to even get into double digits in the win column. This led the team to make the decision to fire Ballard, who was with the franchise for 10 years.

A big decision was expected to be made as CEO Irsay-Gordon had already made it clear that she wanted results this season, and with the 2-4 start, it seemed that once again the team was going to end up with a poor record.

Her involvement has been heavily discussed by NFL analysts and Jason Whitlock is of the firm opinion that she needs to step off the sidelines.

Jason Whitlock believes the Indianapolis Colts should appoint Tom Dungy as the President

Tom Dungy is probably one of the most popular names in Indianapolis, as he was the coach who helped the team win their last Super Bowl trophy. Since retiring from coaching, he was with NBC, working as an analyst, but he was fired by the broadcaster in February.

This means that the coach is available for the Colts if they need him, but Whitlock’s reasoning behind suggesting his name as the President was for different reasons.

“First thing the Colts need to do is hire Tony Dungy as team president. Give their girlboss owner someone to sit with in the press box and explain football to her. Get her off the sidelines. Let everything else flow from that pairing,” Whitlock said.

It is not clear if Dungy wants to return to the NFL. At 71, being a Team President is going to be a huge challenge, which is why it is unclear whether Dungy would even take the responsibility or the team would even ask him. Even if he decided against joining the team, Dungy will always be an Indianapolis legend.

As far as Irsay-Gordon is concerned, she will definitely continue to be a topic of discussion throughout the NFL season. She had already made a statement with her remarks at the start of the season when she said: “I’ve told Chris and Shane, the sense of urgency has never been higher, and we have to find a way.”

During the season, Gordon has been spotted taking down notes and even asking coaches about the decisions that are being made. This is not something traditional CEOs have done, which is why many have raised questions about her methods, but having made the first big decision, it is clear that she is not afraid to make the huge calls for the betterment of the team.
