Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo recently spoke with reporters. He weighed in on Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton taking over offensive play-calling duties since their Week 1 matchup.
"Yeah, listen, I've gone against and seen Sean (Payton) call a lot of games," said Spagnuolo, "So, we'll kind of use that history a little bit, but both of them are really good, and Sean does a good job. They've got good players. We're trying to defend the players and try to be on top of what we think they might do based on the past. We're digging into that, obviously."
Earlier in the month, Payton resumed offensive play-calling duties, taking them back from offensive coordinator Davis Webb after a 2-2 start to the season. In Webb's first four weeks, Denver posted a league-low 13 first-half points, ranked 29th in rushing yards (81.3 per game), and sat 27th in total points and yards per game.
The Broncos have rebounded with a three-game winning streak heading into Week 8 against the Chiefs.
