Former India women’s national cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur is showing no signs of slowing down, as the experienced batter continues to dominate international cricket at the age of 37. Harmanpreet Kaur smashed her eighth ODI century during the second ODI against Zimbabwe at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, on Sunday (October 25).
Harmanpreet’s record-breaking century came after she scored an unbeaten 91 off just 41 balls in the third T20I against the Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team following her captaincy exit. Earlier, Harmanpreet Kaur breaks down in tears during interview after quitting India captaincy.
Kaur reached the milestone with a fine sweep for two runs off Beloved Biza during the second ODI between the India women’s national cricket team and the Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi on Sunday.
While Kaur’s teammates applauded her special achievement, the former Indian captain chose not to celebrate the hundred at the BCA Stadium. With this century, Harmanpreet has become the fourth-oldest player to score a hundred in Women's ODI cricket.
At 37 years and 231 days, she has joined an elite list of experienced batters who achieved the milestone late in their careers. New Zealand's Barb Bevege holds the record as the oldest woman to score an ODI century at 39 years and 48 days. England's Janette Brittin is second at 38 years and 161 days, while South Africa's Daleen Terblanche ranks third at 37 years and 289 days.

Amid this, PCB pushes for Champions Trophy formula for ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2028.

Meanwhile, the former India captain's brilliant innings came to an end at 126 runs off 121 balls after Michelle Mavunga dismissed the senior Indian batter. Mavunga bowled a slower and fuller delivery, tempting Harmanpreet to play a big shot straight down the ground.
However, Harmanpreet failed to connect properly, and the ball came off the bottom part of her bat. The ball went towards long-off, where substitute fielder Kudzai Chigora took an easy catch. Harmanpreet hit 15 fours during her impressive knock.
