Martin Emerson wins first career NFC defensive player of the week award

The Saints got their second win of the season last weekend and cornerback Martin Emerson was a big part of why.

Now he’s been named NFC defensive player of the week.

Emerson had seven tackles, four passes defensed, a tackle for loss, and two interceptions in New Orleans’ win. According to the league, he’s now the third player since 2000 to have that stat line, joining Joe Schobert (2019) and Charles Woodson (2009).

This is Emerson’s first career defensive player of the week award.

The Saints are in Paris this week to play the Steelers.
