Everton sold Beto to Fiorentina late in the summer transfer. Despite some signs of promise, the deal hasn’t exactly gone well for the player.
For many months, Italian clubs had been monitoring the striker’s situation on Merseyside. AS Roma attempted a move in late 2024 but a deal then proved complex.
Initially, Fiorentina wanted Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United but after difficulties, the Everton man became the primary target. Beto ended up replacing Moise Kean, who joined Como on a permanent transfer.
The player has been around the first-team in Florence but things aren’t looking great.
FirenzeViola have an entire column dedicated to the striker, who has played six times in the Serie A right now. He came off the bench against Inter Milan at the weekend and struggled to make a mark, as Fiorentina lost 2-1 in dramatic circumstances.

The report notes that La Viola expected to sign a combative version of Beto and the one who was seen at Udinese. Instead, they have someone who makes ‘no impact at all’ upfront.
This has led to a growing belief that he is the most disappointing signing of the summer for Fiorentina.
The outlet indicate the arrival from Everton appears ‘cumbersome’ and is nowhere close to Kean, for now.
Manager Paolo Vanoli has trusted Beto to impress. So far, that hasn’t happened. At some point, this faith can run out.
While Beto never became a preferred first-choice at Everton, he still scored 25 times in 113 games in all competitions. Those are not bad numbers, and he scored 22 times in 65 games at Udinese.
Clearly, he does have the ability to score goals. For now, he is simply taking time to adjust to a new club.
Besides, Fiorentina have bigger problems of their own. Vanoli himself is getting to grips in his second stint at the club, as La Viola faced instability early on in the campaign. So taking time is largely normal, in this case.
