Newport County forward Shaquille Gwengwe is given a three-match suspension after admitting to a charge of violent conduct.

Newport County forward Shaquille Gwengwe has been given a three-match suspension after admitting to a charge of violent conduct.

Gwengwe, 25, has received the ban for an incident in the 66th minute of Newport's 1-1 draw with York City on Saturday, 17 November.

Officials initially missed the incident, with the Football Association (FA) later concluding that Gwengwe's actions were violent conduct after reviewing video footage.

The ban is effective immediately, meaning Newport's top goalscorer will miss trips to Rotherham United and Cheltenham Town and a home clash with Chesterfield.

Gwengwe, who joined the Exiles in the summer, has scored five league goals this season, helping County to an 11th-place position in League Two.
