Manchester City are back in action tonight against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, but a number of their stars will be missing. Gianluigi Donnarumma, Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, Elliot Anderson and Erling Haaland have all been handed a three-day holiday by Enzo Maresca following the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

"They are all on holiday," Maresca confirmed during Tuesday's press conference. "Three days off, energy, go, come back full of energy and then go again." But it could be more than just the quintet who could be missing for City at the Etihad Stadium this evening.

MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest injury news and potential return dates for City's players.

Matheus Nunes

Injury: Groin

Maresca confirmed on Saturday there was a chance Nunes could be fit to face Brighton in the Carabao Cup. The City boss would allude to Nunes being injured while answering a question about Rico Lewis on Tuesday, so it remains to be seen if the full-back is able to return.

Potential return date: October 28 vs Brighton

Iliman Ndiaye

Injury: Cramp

After a good performance against Villa at the weekend, Ndiaye was replaced in the second half and appeared to be struggling. Maresca confirmed the forward was okay and was merely suffering with cramp, hence why he was substituted. The former Everton man should be in the squad to face Brighton.

Potential return date: October 28 vs Brighton

Nico O'Reilly

Injury: Back

The City boss praised O'Reilly for being 'fantastic' when he is on his feet during Tuesday's press conference. O'Reilly returned to the squad on Saturday and was an unused substitute against Villa.

Potential return date: October 28 vs Brighton

Mateo Kovacic

Injury: Unknown

Kovacic was back on the bench at the weekend after picking up an unknown issue against Ipswich Town. The midfielder could start against Brighton tonight if fully fit.

Potential return date: October 28 vs Brighton

Antoine Semenyo

Injury: Leg

Semenyo is the only long-term concern for City. Maresca confirmed last week that he will be sidelined until December. "In the first moment we expect an even worse injury," he said, "so we were more worried but after the scan we are less worried. It could be eight weeks.

"Now the most important thing is to recover it. When he is back, around December, we have a new player. It's not muscular."

Potential return date: December
