Antonio Conte issues statement to 'clarify position' on Man Utd job prospects
Antonio Conte has spoken out against reports about his approach to his next move

Antonio Conte has come out and rubbished reports that he's making demands for full control during talks over his next job - with the Manchester United hotseat among those he's linked with.

The Italian is out of a job having left Napoli in the summer following two years in the role, winning the Scudetto in his debut season. His stellar CV boasts league titles with Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan and the Naples outfit.

All of which have seen him tipped to replace Michael Carrick if United, who have won just two games in 11 to begin the season, opt to make an early change.

In previous roles, Conte has been accused of making major demands to those above, especially when it comes to recruitment and retention, with the Italian previously being outspoken when missing out on specific transfer targets, but the 57-year-old has rubbished those theories.

He said on his social media account: "Following recent media reports in Italy and abroad, I feel it is appropriate to clarify my position. My name has been linked with numerous clubs, but there are currently no negotiations at an advanced stage.

"Following a wonderful and successful spell in charge of Napoli, I will take the time I need to consider how and when to return to management. It will be a carefully considered decision, one I will make when I believe the conditions are right.

"I have read reports of financial demand and requests for full control that I have supposedly already made to the clubs mentioned, ad well as reservations about what has been described as my 'strong personality'. These are reports are unfounded, as here is currently no concrete basis for such assessments.

"Should a concrete opportunity arise that will be the time to hold discussions with the club concerned and jointly consider the terms of a potential agreement, with due regard for both parties' needs and the qualities and approach that define my work as a manager."

Conte's last job in England saw him axed by Tottenham after he took aim at the club for their continued failures. Prior to that he won the title at Chelsea and then delivered the FA Cup, but it was well documented that he missed out on several of his preferred players in his final summer.

The Italian has been linked with the role on the red half of Manchester previously but pundits have been split on whether he would be the right fit, especially given his relatively short stints in recent roles.
