Martin Drury sees ‘much more room to improve’ for Huddersfield

Goals from Derensili Sanches Fernandes and Bojan Radulovic sealed a superb Town victory and knocked Argyle off top spot.

The result moved Huddersfield up to third – now a place ahead of their opponents – ahead of hosting 19th-placed Peterborough on Tuesday.

But Drury said: “We don’t want to sit back we want to more score goals.

“There’s still much more room to improve on this season. We try to be on the front foot in every game and intense.

“Of course, we want more goals but I must also acknowledge the fact that we are creating so many chances.

“Today was a difficult game against a team that are really tough to prep for and really difficult to contain.

“Tom’s doing an amazing job and we knew how difficult the challenge was going to be.

“I felt we were very strong. It was a real away performance, I would have been just as pleased if we played like that at home.

“We didn’t want to come here and try and take a point and be reserved.

“We wanted to be on the front foot, aggressive and play the attacking football we want to.

“We created numerous chances first half, we should have been more ahead than we were.

“We were relentless from start to finish today.

“We managed the game really well and I am in full admiration for the way the players worked.

“The full squad contributed so well today. Collectively we looked strong today.

“We were mentally stronger in the second half, throughout the match.”

Cleverley’s Argyle suffered a second defeat in their last three home league matches.

“It was really disappointing,” he said.

“We had a big chance at the far post after 40 seconds and their keeper does well.

“Then Jack MacKenzie lands on the second ball and puts in a real firm challenge and you think ‘we’ll have a bit of this’ and really get the crowd involved.

“Then the first action that they showed their quality – and I thought they were excellent today – we seemed to fear that and really go into our shell and shrink.

“Technically they have got a great side so you have to go run harder, win your duels, get on top of your individual battles, and then the game.

“If anything, we shrank away from that challenge.

“We were dominated in every phase of the game.

“You have to take it on the chin when you are second best.

“We can say we have been humbled. We didn’t look at the level they were at today.”
