Chelsea fans implore Clearlake to take action after hearing Xabi Alonso’s latest transfer target

Rarely do Chelsea fans agree unanimously on something. Xabi Alonso joining was pretty unanimous, with fans delighted by his arrival. Now, it seems the fans all agree on Alonso’s latest transfer target.

In the summer, there were some sections of the fanbase that doubted the signings of Maxence Lacroix, Pep Chavarria and Marco Palestra. Some felt they were not good enough to play for a club like Chelsea.

But when it came to Morgan Rogers, every single Chelsea fan wanted to see the England star sign on the dotted line. Now, Chelsea have been scouting Nico Paz, Argentina’s potential answer to Lionel Messi.

Nico Paz has Chelsea fans excited amid scouting reports

According to reports this week, Chelsea sent scouts to watch Como’s Argentine sensation Paz in a 3-2 defeat to Feyenoord and then a 3-1 win over Fiorentina. He got a goal and an assist in the latter.

If Chelsea scouts were in attendance on Wednesday night, then they would have urged Clearlake to sign him without a moment’s hesitation. Como smashed Man United 4-1, and Paz scored two superb goals.

Amid the reports, amid Emi Martinez recently suggesting he is Argentina’s new no.10, Chelsea fans have urged their club to take action. Forget the cost, bring former Real Madrid star Paz to Stamford Bridge.

“If they can pull off a deal for him, I’ll back this board my entire life”, was the reaction of one supporter to the news that Chelsea wanted the man who ripped Man United apart. Another said: “Just bring him in”.

Another said: “Nico Paz is the best CAM after Cole Palmer”. Plenty were hyped by the thought of Paz in Chelsea’s blue shirt: “Paz is on another level at the moment”. Even if he could cost the best part of £100m.

Having watched him sparkle against Man United, another supporter said: “Nico Paz has a lot to offer this Chelsea team”. Amid the reports, one fan summed it up: “This is beautiful; he would be a great addition”.

The problem Chelsea have in trying to convince Nico Paz

Paz would be a glorious signing. He would be direct competition for Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in the no.10 role, which is something Chelsea lack – but he could also sit alongside Moises Caicedo.

Given his physicality, there is also scope for him to play as a striker if required. But in terms of convincing the 14-time Argentina star, who has 45 goals and assists in 85 Como games, that will be a lot trickier.

Real Madrid have a buyback clause in his Como contract worth £70m. A bargain for a player of his potential and quality. If Chelsea are to convince Paz, they will have to appeal to the player himself.
