No arrests after fight at Pembrokeshire youth football match

The on and off the pitch aggression happened during an under-15s game between Hakin United and Pennar Robins in Milford Haven on Saturday, September 12.

It was captured on camera, with footage showing shows two men arguing on the pitch before a player appears to kick one of them. The fight then spills onto the sidelines, where one man appears to kick the other, who then falls to the ground.

A month after the fracas, Pembrokeshire Society of Referres issued a statement saying enough is enough and condemning abuse and hostility. (Image: submitted)

The West Wales Football Association (WWFA) said at the time that it was taking the matter "extremely seriously" and had launched an investigation.

A spokesman for the WWFA told Wales Online: "The incident is being taken extremely seriously and will be considered in accordance with the appropriate disciplinary and safeguarding procedures, an investigation has commenced.

"As this process is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further on the circumstances of the incident or any individuals involved at this stage.

"The welfare and safety of all young players, coaches, officials and spectators remains of paramount importance, the appropriate action will be taken following the conclusion of the relevant processes."

The Western Telegraph has contacted The West Wales Football Association for an update into its investigation of the September incident.

The police update comes just days after the Pembrokeshire Society of Referees issued a statement saying ‘enough is enough’ and warning that referees were leaving the game due to continued abuse.

Neill Crawshaw, chairman of the Pembrokeshire Referees Society, said that far too many local officials were facing relentless criticism, verbal abuse, intimidation and a complete lack of respect from individuals both on and around the pitch.

He warned that as a result experienced both seasoned officials who have dedicated years to Pembrokeshire football and newer referees were saying that this season would be their last.

Mr Crawshaw called upon the Pembrokeshire Football League, club committees, managers, coaches, players and supporters to take collective responsibility and change the culture of abuse.
