Five losses in seven games still aren't enough to put the New Orleans Saints inside the top 10 of the 2027 NFL draft order. New Orleans slipped to No. 11 after the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, ending the Saints' brief stay in the No. 10 spot.
Philadelphia moved up to No. 6 with the loss, joining a crowded group of seven teams at 2-5. The Saints sit behind every other team in that group because of their .548 strength of schedule; when tied, teams that faced an easier schedule get the earlier selection. That's why the Eagles have the same record as the Saints and still pick five spots earlier.
Here's how the first 12 picks stack up, according to Tankathon. The New York Jets hold three of those selections, including the first-round picks belonging to Indianapolis and Dallas:
Los Angeles Chargers, 0-6 (SOS: .530)
Washington Commanders, 1-4-1 (.483)
Philadelphia Eagles, 2-5 (.478)
New York Jets via Indianapolis Colts, 2-5 (.491)
Arizona Cardinals, 2-5 (.504)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2-5 (.522)
New York Jets, 2-5 (.541)
New York Jets via Dallas Cowboys, 3-4 (.431)
It's a frustrating position for a team that could use difference-makers. Picking at No. 11 could complicate any hopes of landing an elite defensive prospect. They could trade up or hope a player falls to them, though the draft is still several months away.
The Saints head into their bye following Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris. They have 10 games left to change their season's direction, and without even playing a snap next week, New Orleans could shift their draft position again. For now, though, they sit just outside the top 10.
