A lack of field maintenance has cost the club thousands. Credits to – Pinner RFC.
Pinner Rugby Club (PRFC) is at risk of closure due to alleged lack of field maintenance by Harrow Council. PRFC has been a cornerstone of the community for over 70 years.
This institution is a beacon of community spirit and inclusivity, fostering a love for rugby across generations. However, the club’s future is at risk.
PRFC alleges that maintenance issues stem from negligence by the council. The grounds have “fallen into disrepair” making it “impossible to safely conduct all practices and matches required to sustain the club’s operations and continue its activities”.
Last year, PRFC spent £6,000 from its small budget to ensure pitches were playable, taking vital funds away from the grassroots club. PRFC asked the council to deduct this money from pitch rental fees.
Harrow Council is now refusing to hire pitches to PRFC for this season until outstanding rent is paid.
