Sheffield Wednesday have sacked manager Henrik Pedersen.

Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers at the weekend, and the decision was made to part ways with Henrik Pedersen after 65 games in charge.

The Danish manager leaves Wednesday in eighth place, just two points adrift of the play-offs, so the club are still well-placed for promotion if they get the appointment right.

With that said, we’ve asked supporters on TalkingPoints who they’d like to hire as Pedersen’s replacement.

TalkingPoints

Steve Cooper, Paul Heckingbottom, Dave Challinor & Rob Edwards are all available… who should Sheffield Wednesday hire? 🤔

Steve Cooper would be the ‘dream’

Leeclarke0508 would love to see former Nottingham Forest and Leicester City boss Steve Cooper at Hillsborough.

Cooper has been out of work since leaving Danish outfit Brondby in May, although there are doubts over whether he’d drop to the third tier.

Cooper would be the dream but would he drop to L1? Challinor knows the league. Heckingbottom not for me and Edwards not entirely convinced on him either. Gary Rowett anyone?

Sheffield Wednesday don’t need a ‘big name appointment’ and should hire Dave Challinor

Ed Watkinson feels Dave Challinor would be a safe appointment, considering he already has great experience of League One with Stockport County.

Challinor guided Stockport to a third-placed finish and a play-off final last term before deciding to depart at the end of the season.

I’d go with Challinor personally. Cooper and Edwards might be bigger names, but Wednesday don’t necessarily need a big name appointment right now.

Sheffield Wednesday should ‘go all out’ for Rob Edwards

Quite a few Wednesday fans have urged the club to appoint Rob Edwards, who left Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer.

Shamanth.jayaram and Matthew.johns have both made Edwards their number one priority. The 43-year-old has two promotions on his CV with Forest Green Rovers and Luton Town.

Always been a big fan of Edwards. Highly unlikely they get Cooper imo. Edward’s should be the one they go all out for regardless

I think Rob Edwards is the best bet, I think Steve Cooper would be a good option as well but I doubt he would drop down to League One

Paul Heckingbottom and Dave Challinor are the most ‘realistic’ names

Dakir.thanveer would love Cooper but can’t see him taking the job. He thinks Paul Heckingbottom, who was most recently at Preston North End, and Challinor are attainable hires.

Heckingbottom does have Sheffield United ties, so it remains to be seen if he would be a serious candidate among Wednesday fans.

I still rate Cooper and want to see him doing well, but doubt he will drop to L1. Heckingbottom sounds plausible, although Edwards would be great too. Think Challinor and Heckingbottom are more realistic
