The college football top 10 imploded on Saturday with upset losses all around. Now comes the rankings chaos.
Week 7 was billed as the biggest weekend of the 2026 college football season so far.
It delivered. And while Halloween is a few weeks away, Saturday was a bloodbath for the top 10. Half of the teams ranked inside the US LBM Coaches Poll top 10 will have lost by the end of Saturday.
No. 1 Georgia lost 27-24 to Auburn on a walk-off field goal.
No. 2 Notre Dame plays No. 8 BYU at 7:30 p.m. ET in Provo. They can't both win.
No. 4 Indiana lost to No. 5 Ohio State by a few inches.
No. 6 Texas was upset at home by Florida, which picked up its second top-10 win of the year.
No. 7 Alabama lost 26-10 to No. 14 Tennessee, which will put Bama's CFP hopes in peril.
These results matter this year. Next year? Maybe not so much as a 24-team playoff gives teams some extra rope. But we can enjoy the madness while we can.
Per ESPN, this was the first time Georgia, Alabama and Texas all lost on the same day since Oct. 26, 1996.
No. 9 Texas Tech and No. 10 Ole Miss avoided slip-ups with convincing wins over Arizona State and Missouri, respectively.
No. 3 Miami will look to do the same with its nighttime kickoff against rival Florida State.
Sunday's poll release will have much more intrigue, including who will take the No. 1 spot?
