A WWE legend may be on the verge of retirement.

Rey Mysterio, who is already a WWE Hall of Famer, has been the source of backstage rumors that suggest that he will be retiring from the ring in 2027.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that a source within WWE noted that there has been "chatter" at TV shows that have next year will be the last for Mysterio, at least as an active wrestler. The source conceded though that they had no direct knowledge of when the official retirement could take place.

The same source also shared that WWE has already discussed ideas on how to plan Mysterio's farewell but the prevailing feeling is that much like AJ Styles, Mysterio will only be wrapping up his in-ring career and will surely be continuing in some sort of backstage capacity, especially given his involvement with AAA and influence in developing "next generation" talent within the promotion.
