Eight admit violent disorder before Oldham Athletic match

Fans were accused of brawling in the streets of Failsworth on October 1, 2022, ahead of the Latics fixture against the Welsh side at Boundary Park.

Video footage of the fight shared on social media at the time showed a large group of men kicking, punching and throwing objects such as bricks and wheelie bins at each other on residential streets.

Now, eight men from Oldham have admitted to violent disorder in relation to their behaviour four years ago.

The eight men who have all pleaded guilty to one count of violent disorder are:

  • Dane Hoy, 21, of Deanshut Road, Fitton Hill, Oldham
  • Jarrod Graham, 35, of Grange Road, Whitworth, Rochdale
  • Joshua Odonnel, 29, of Pretoria Road, Oldham
  • Orry Allen, 23, of Moston Lane East, New Moston, Manchester
  • James Armitage, 40, of Belmont Street, Lees, Oldham
  • Adam Collier, 22, of New Baillie Street, Rochdale
  • Jack Sammon, 23, of Wainsford Walk, Fitton Hill, Oldham
  • Alan Rhodes, 55, of Elm Road, Limeside, Oldham

All eight men are set to be sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on December 18.

The violent disorder was condemned at the time by police and by Angela Rayner, who was MP for Failsworth at the time, who said she was "disgusted" by the behaviour captured in video footage.

Police were granted dispersal powers at the time to break up the fans, with dozens of fans issued with the direction to leave.
