‘I’m Fully Panicked’ — NFL Legend Julian Edelman Voices Major Concerns About Rams’ Poor Start To Season

The Los Angeles Rams are 2-4 and fourth in the NFC West heading into Sunday. In a clip shared hours before their Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, FOX analyst Julian Edelman took aim at the offense and quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Edelman’s critique follows two straight losses at SoFi Stadium. The Buffalo Bills won 37-34 in overtime on Monday night, Oct. 12.

Then, on Oct. 18, the Arizona Cardinals won 18-16 when Chad Ryland kicked his sixth field goal of the day, a 43-yarder as time expired. That kick erased the lead Stafford had given Los Angeles with a touchdown pass with 47 seconds left.

Julian Edelman Pins the Los Angeles Rams’ Slide on the Offense

Edelman explained where his concern about the Rams comes from:

“I’m fully panicked. I’m fully panicked and it’s not because of the special teams which I always talk about. It’s because of how the offense is playing. They just seem to be off.”

The kicking game did have its own trouble in Week 5. Harrison Mevis missed a 50-yard field goal and later had a 48-yard overtime attempt blocked before Tyler Bass won it with a 45-yarder.

Edelman then widened the lens:

“Last week they looked tired. Yes, they lost to Buffalo six days before. They’re getting banged up now. They’re missing some of their players. Matt Stafford’s not playing like the high execution guy that we know he is.”

Stafford entered Sunday leading the NFL with 1,794 passing yards this season. He has thrown 11 touchdown passes, tied for seventh in the league, against six interceptions, against six interceptions, while his 91.7 passer rating ranks 19th among qualified quarterbacks.

Against Buffalo, he threw for 383 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, and against Arizona, he went 25 of 33 for 222 yards and two scores while taking three sacks.

The Rams will also be shorthanded in Las Vegas. Davante Adams is expected to miss six to 10 weeks with a hamstring injury, and multiple key contributors went on injured reserve with injuries from the Arizona game. Linebacker Nate Landman (concussion) has been ruled out, and Eric Kendricks was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday.

Puka Nacua, who ranks 16th on PFN’s WR Impact Metric, had 17 catches for 138 yards against Buffalo, and he is questionable with a calf injury. Head coach Sean McVay called that injury “minor” after the receiver left Thursday’s practice early. Cornerback Trent McDuffie (groin) is also questionable.

Edelman also weighed where that leaves the Rams in the division:

“So I am getting a little worried because they got a long road and those Niners look very good. And you look at Seattle and they have a really good team too. So, you know, being 2-4 at this time of the year, you kind of are what you are.”

The San Francisco 49ers came into Sunday 6-0 and in first place in the NFC West, four games ahead of the Rams, while the Seattle Seahawks were second at 3-3. The Rams still visit San Francisco on Dec. 13 and play Seattle twice in their last three games.
