Seahawks knock the Chiefs from the ranks of the undefeated with 20-3 win

The Seattle Seahawks looked every bit the part of the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday night, as they absolutely dominated the Kansas City Chiefs in a critical Week 7 victory. Seattle knocked the Chiefs from the ranks of the undefeated with a suffocating 20-3 victory on "Sunday Night Football."

Patrick Mahomes felt the power of the Dark Side tonight. Kansas City entered tonight with the No. 1 offense in the NFL, averaging 414 yards per game. The Seahawks held them to 213 yards, 11 first downs, only three points off a lone field goal. Shoot, the Chiefs didn't even make it to the red zone at any point! For only the fourth time in the Mahomes era, Kansas City failed to score an offensive touchdown with him under center.

Seattle was in desperate need of a win, not just to snap their current two-game losing streak but also keep pace in the NFC West. The division leading San Francisco 49ers lost their first game of the season to the Atlanta Falcons, and the Los Angeles Rams improved to 3-4 with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Not only did the Seahawks have an opportunity to pick up a game on the Niners, they had to avoid losing their cushion to the Rams.

Fortunately, Seattle took care of business at home. Of course the Dark Side is the story of the game, but the offense deserves love as well. Especially on third down. Going into Week 7, the Seahawks were 29th in the NFL on third down conversions. Against the Chiefs, Seattle was 11-for-16 on third down, and managed to score both touchdowns in these scenarios as well.

Speaking of touchdowns, both were a thing of beauty. Sam Darnold found Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a breathtaking toe-tapping score, and Emanuel Wilson put the game on ice late.

Now the Seahawks are 4-3 on the year and will shift focus to their next opponent: the Chicago Bears, who are coming for a "Monday Night Football" showdown in Week 8. Chicago began Week 7 with a home win over the New England Patriots on "Thursday Night Football" so they will be plenty rested when they visit the unfriendly confines of Lumen Field.
