India National Cricket Team fast bowler Prasidh Krishna’s participation in the upcoming five-match ODI series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team is still in doubt as concerns continue over his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The fast bowler suffered a left hamstring injury during the recent three-match ODI series against the West Indies at home, and the BCCI medical team is keeping a close watch on his fitness. Krishna has returned to bowling in training, but his match fitness remains a concern.
Prasidh Krishna is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Despite being named in Karnataka's Ranji Trophy squad shortly after his hamstring injury, he has not played in any of the first three rounds of the tournament.
According to media reports, the 30-year-old bowler has already taken part in match simulations on October 22 and 24. However, the BCCI medical team is checking Krishna’s progress very carefully and may not yet be fully convinced about his recovery.
Krishna has now been asked to undergo another round of match simulations on November 1 and 2. With the five-match ODI series between India and New Zealand beginning on November 4, these sessions could prove crucial in deciding whether Krishna is ready to return to action.
Prasidh Krishna underwent match simulations on October 22 & 24, and now he has been asked for another round scheduled for November 1 & 2. Is everything alright with his recovery, or is the COE still not fully convinced about his match fitness? With the NZ ODIs starting November 4, his availability is a growing concern.

The original squad includes Krishna for the first three ODIs, followed by the two-match Test series in New Zealand. India will also field a separate squad for the final two ODIs, with players selected for the Test matches being rested.
If Krishna fails to regain full fitness in time, India could consider Auqib Nabi, Yash Thakur, or Gurnoor Brar as possible replacements for the ODI matches against the Black Caps.
All three fast bowlers are part of India's wider plans and will also be in New Zealand. Amid this, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's ODI comeback hopes get a boost with Vijay Hazare Trophy return.
Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna has established himself as one of India's key fast bowlers across the formats, but repeated injuries have often interrupted his career. His career was mainly impacted by a lumbar stress fracture and quadriceps and hamstring injuries.
Prasidh has done well for the Indian cricket team across formats and has had some brilliant performances despite the setbacks. He has taken 53 wickets in 30 ODIs, including a best of 5/23, and 32 wickets in nine Tests.
In the IPL, the fast bowler has taken 90 wickets in 78 matches, while he has 136 wickets in 37 first-class matches. He has also picked up nine wickets in eight T20Is for the Men in Blue.
Earlier, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (45 off 19 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (113 off 38 balls) created history against New Zealand in the third T20I of the ongoing five-match T20I series in Wellington on Tuesday.
Chasing 199, they added 133 runs in just 7.1 overs. India reached 50 in 2.2 overs and 100 in five overs, breaking Romania’s record of reaching 100 in 5.2 overs against Serbia in 2021. India also smashed the record for the highest powerplay total (118) in men’s T20Is.
