Feyenoord attacker Gaoussou Diarra needed only a short time to find the net after earning a start against Telstar, prompting analyst Martijn Meerdink to declare that Feyenoord has added another option to its squad. Fr12.nl reported that the Malinese forward made an immediate impact upon returning to the starting lineup, capping his energetic performance with the fastest goal in the Eredivisie season so far.

Rapid Opening Goal Cements Impressive Outing Against Telstar

Operating as a starter in place of Luciano Valente, the 23-year-old Diarra wasted no time establishing his presence on the pitch. FR-Fans.nl reported that the forward scored after barely twenty-five seconds of play, marking his second official goal in a Feyenoord shirt following an earlier strike as a substitute against FC Utrecht prior to the international break. Meerdink praised the player’s relentless work rate during the match, noting that his constant movement and high energy levels give the Rotterdam side a fresh tactical option going forward. The Malinese forward must largely make do with substitute appearances this season and has regularly faced criticism regarding his play. Despite Giovanni van Bronckhorst describing the fixture as his team’s weakest match of the season—during which Read notably did not completely escape blame on the third conceded goal—both Diarra and Read managed to rise above the malaise.

Rotation Plans Open Doors for Fringe Squad Members

VoetbalPrimeur reported that players such as Diarra, Sem Steijn, and Tobias van den Elshout are expected to benefit from the increased playing time. Vorig seizoen speelde ik die uitwedstrijd ook, maar toen kwam ik opeens in de ploeg zonder ritme. Nu heb ik veel meer minuten in de benen, Diarra stated. Sem Steijn has played only sixteen percent of possible Eredivisie minutes this season for Feyenoord and is eager for action, acknowledging that wanting more playing time is difficult while remaining glad to be at the club. Meanwhile, Van den Elshout has made Eredivisie substitute appearances against NEC, FC Utrecht, and AZ without yet earning a start under Van Bronckhorst this year, while also appearing off the bench against FC Barcelona and Como.

Givairo Read Earns High Praise for National Team Potential

Diarra was not the only Feyenoord youngster recognized in the weekly Eredivisie selection, which featured two players from Feyenoord alongside two from SC Heerenveen and two from Sparta Rotterdam behind supplier Ajax, which led with three selections alongside single representatives from SC Cambuur. FR-Fans.nl reported that right-back Givairo Read also earned a spot in Meerdink’s Elftal van de Week following a standout performance. Meerdink highlighted Read’s crucial involvement in the buildup to Feyenoord’s third goal against Telstar, alongside a skillful individual effort along the baseline to beat a defender. Arnold Mühren also named Read as a player for the Netherlands national team the previous week.
