Joseph Blandisi is heading to the National League after the HC Davos announced the immediate signing of the 32-year-old Canadian forward on a contract running through the 2026/27 season. Standing 183 centimeters and weighing 83 kilograms, the left-shooting forward arrives to bolster the Grisons club’s offensive depth with his ability to play both center and wing.
Blandisi joins Davos after spending the previous season in the Kontinental Hockey League with SKA Saint-Petersburg. During his campaign in Russia, he recorded 14 goals and 17 assists across 66 regular-season games, totaling 31 points. Before his move to Eastern Europe in 2025, the native of Ontario spent the vast majority of his professional career in North America. His résumé includes 101 National Hockey League appearances—primarily with the New Jersey Devils—where he accumulated 31 points, including 10 goals. He also logged more than 450 games in the American Hockey League.
Evaluations of his offensive upside point heavily to his tenure with the Toronto Marlies. During the 2023/24 AHL season, Blandisi posted his most productive professional campaign with 25 goals and 34 assists for 59 points in 70 games, finishing as the team’s leading scorer and ranking 15th overall in the league. His production adjusted to 35 points in 58 contests the following year before his transition to European competition.
Earlier in his career, he netted 52 goals in 68 games for Barrie during the 2014/15 Ontario Hockey League season, finishing as the league’s top scorer. While scouting reports note he is comfortable playing through traffic in congested areas and fighting for loose pucks, his historical faceoff numbers present an area for the coaching staff to monitor. Data from his NHL career show a 42.4% success rate across 283 total faceoffs.
The HC Davos management has already filed the paperwork required for Blandisi’s work permit. Club officials expect the documentation to clear within the next 10 days, clearing the way for his debut on Swiss ice.
Elsewhere in the National League, roster movement continued as Saku Mäenalanen signed a contract extension with the SCL Tigers through 2029. The 32-year-old Finnish forward has contributed five goals and four assists through 11 appearances for Langnau in the current campaign.
