James Penrice and Badredine Bouanani on Rangers' Hampden win

The Ibrox side overcame Aberdeen 1-0 at Hampden, with Ryan Naderi grabbing the late winner to send Derek McInnes’ men back to the national stadium in December.

Penrice, who played in a more central midfield role before switching back to left-back, was delighted with the victory and hailed Naderi for delivering when it mattered. He said: “It is excellent. We stuck in there today and got our goal. It is a proper striker's goal for Ryan.

"I am just buzzing.”

Penrice believes Rangers’ resilience was crucial as they kept pushing for the breakthrough despite the prospect of extra time looming. He added: “We were all pushing. We created a number of chances. You have seen this season the resilience to keep going until the final whistle. It has paid off for us.

“It is a proper striker's goal for Ryan, and he has been excellent. He has been our guy supplying the goals.

"We are buzzing to get there, getting into the final, and that is the main thing.”

Rangers have now gone 11 games unbeaten, and Penrice believes their previous meeting with Aberdeen proved to be a turning point. But he warned there remains significant room for improvement despite their impressive run.

He said: “Aberdeen last time was probably the shift. We have turned a corner, but it is still not completely there. We can do a lot more on the pitch and score a lot more goals, but it is getting better.”

Badredine Bouanani was named Man of the Match after an impressive display but admitted he was frustrated not to get on the scoresheet himself. He said: “I had a few chances. I need to work in training. I need to score one or two goals today, but it is okay.

"I am going to work in training next week and hope next game I will score.”

Bouanani also hailed the Rangers support after sampling the Hampden atmosphere. He said: “Crazy fans. At home at Ibrox, it is always special, and today was also crazy. Very happy about the win.

"Let's move forward.”

And the winger insists he is relishing life at Rangers. He added: “Since I have been here, I enjoy every game. With the teammates, they are really good. We can give everything for them.

"I enjoy every game, and especially today was crazy.”
