Celtic sent warning ahead of crucial Europa League clash

Celtic lost their fourth European game in a row for the first time in history after blowing a lead against Celta Vigo to lose 2-1.

Only Armenian minnows Ararat-Armenia are keeping Celtic off the bottom of the 36 teams in the league phase on goal difference, with the Hoops one of only four teams to have lost all three of their games.

They face Turkish side Besiktas next in Glasgow and they are sitting in the final eighth spot for automatic qualification for the knock-out stage, after a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace with ten men.

And former Bologna and Fiorentina boss Italiano knows from personal experience they have to collect as many points as possible. He said: "We got one point, but I can say it's a very important point.

"We played against a very good Crystal Palace side. The important thing here is that we are still undefeated in Europe, especially in such a difficult group. To get into the top eight in the Europa League, you need to get as many points as possible.

"Last season when I was at Bologna, we got 15 points and still missed out by a point. In this competition, we need to accumulate as many points as we can, and we are determined to win our next game.

"Our goal, as I have always said, is to qualify from this section. We have amazing fans. They fill the stands completely every match. So we need to honour them as well by producing our best performances in every game.

"We need to try and go all the way in every competition. Right now, we are in a position to go further in Europe and to get out of the group."
