There has been an emergence of rumour around the future of Morgan Gibbs-White this season at Nottingham Forest, but there is a clear reaction to these that says it all.

Morgan Gibbs-White has had a quietly very impressive start to the season for Nottingham Forest, with expected returns that would have him on for his all-time best season. But despite this, rumours have sparked that Gibbs-White could be seeking an exit as early as January, which would be ridiculous.

It has previously been said that Evangelos Marinakis wouldn’t answer calls about Gibbs-White in January, with Chelsea reportedly showing an interest in signing the 26-year-old. Now, Forest fans on TalkingPoints have made their opinions on the situation crystal clear.

Would you rather sell Morgan Gibbs-White for £100m & rebuild OR keep him as the face of Nottingham Forest? 🤔

Nottingham Forest fans unanimously want Morgan Gibbs-White to stay

In many ways, Morgan Gibbs-White has become ‘Mr. Nottingham Forest’, and so the idea that he would ever be allowed to leave mid-season is not at all feasible. He might be sold for big money next summer, but when Forest fans were asked about him potentially leaving, the response was pretty unanimous against it.

@flow77craig made a critical point to kick things off, “Why would we sell our captain and most influential player?”, he asked before suggesting the minimum he would accept for Gibbs-White, “It would have to be £130m for me, but TBH I would keep him, whatever it takes.”

Why would we sell our captain and most influential player.. It would have to be £130m for me, but TBH I would keep him whatever it takes.

This comment received responses, with @markmarston agreeing with the sentiment, “£120m would probs be the magic number for me. Selling MGW would be waving the white flag to some degree, so it’s massively important to keep.”

For user @kyle.dimond, even selling Gibbs-White for massive money wouldn’t make all that much sense. “£100m won’t buy you that much these days, and you aren’t going to be able to replace his contributions with that money. I think keeping him might be the best move unless it’s a last resort.”

In the current landscape of the transfer market, Gibbs-White should be invaluable to Forest, considering how impossible it would be to sign anyone as impactful with the funds recouped.

@peter.lynch believes this, urging Forest not to sell Gibbs-White no matter what. “He has to be kept at all costs, right now anyway… such a huge player for the club, a real talent that I’d say is worth over £100m if you compare it to what other players are going for these days, he’s a star.”

While @mark.marston also responded to this, pointing out how Gibbs-White is just as good as Morgan Rogers. “Yep… Rogers went for £117m, wasn’t it? MGW is on par at least.”

It is doubtful that Marinakis would agree to sell Gibbs-White, but if there was any doubt over how the fanbase would react, this should show that there are no circumstances in which it would be acceptable. So these rumours should now be pushed aside and forgotten about. Gibbs-White is here to stay and turn Oliver Glasner’s fortunes around.
