Chiefs maintain perfect winning record

Kaizer Chiefs made a compelling statement in the DStv Diski Challenge this past weekend, maintaining their 100 per cent winning record with an emphatic victory. After decisively defeating both Mamelodi Sundowns and reigning champions Orlando Pirates, Amakhosi continued to dominate the reserve league, making light work of Marumo Gallants, beating them 4-0 at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga.

Chiefs scored four goals against Gallants, netting two in each half. Keitumetse Lesia, Tashiel Rugunanani, Steven Mendes, and Matala Makhubo all contributed to the scoreline, ensuring that Amakhosi stay at the top with 12 points after four matches.

Could this be the season where Amakhosi clinches their second Diski Challenge title? While it remains to be seen, they certainly present a serious threat this season. Coach Vela Khumalo has also expressed aspirations to break records this year, from total points to winning more than ten consecutive games.

Kruger United 1-1 Orlando Pirates

The DDC reigning champions faced frustration on Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by newcomers Kruger United at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium. Since the season began, the Buccaneers' results have been fluctuating, starting with a defeat to Chiefs, followed by a victory over Stellies, a loss to Siwelele, and now this draw against Kruger.

Thurston Phillips opened the scoring for Pirates in the 30th minute, but Ayabulela Magidigidi equalized just ten minutes later. In the second half, neither team could find the back of the net, although Kruger appeared to be the stronger side, hinting at their potential to be a surprise package this season if they can maintain consistency.

TS Galaxy 2-1 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns secured a hard-fought three points with a 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy in KwaMhlanga. Simphiwe Mlondo shone bright, scoring both goals for Sundowns, while Galaxy's Siyanda Xulu netted a stunning strike that ultimately fell short of salvaging points for his team.

Richards Bay 0-1 Golden Arrows

Two-time Diski Challenge winners, Golden Arrows, claimed local derby bragging rights by defeating Richards Bay FC 1-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium. Defender Katlego Moloi found the net just before the final whistle, ensuring that his side walked away with maximum points.

Chippa United 1-4 Sekhukhune United

In an impressive display, Sekhukhune United demolished Chippa United with a 4-1 victory, led by the outstanding Ntando Thwane, who scored a hat-trick. Thokolo Medupi added another goal, propelling Babina Noko to second place in the Diski table with 10 points, just two points behind leaders Chiefs. This result indicates that Sekhukhune is finding their rhythm this season.
