Asante Kotoko will be under pressure to deliver an improved performance when they travel to the Golden City Park to face Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, with both former Ghana Premier League champions struggling to find consistency this season.
The Porcupine Warriors have endured a difficult campaign, with their performances falling short of expectations following the abrupt departure of former coach Eric Tinkler. Despite being tipped as favourites, they have struggled to establish a reliable winning rhythm.
Kotoko have recorded three wins, four draws and two defeats from nine matches, leaving them with 13 points. Their last two outings ended in draws against Medeama and FC AshantiGold 04, extending their winless run to two matches.
The results have added to the frustration among supporters, with Kotoko yet to show the consistency expected of a club with their ambitions. Their away form is an even bigger concern, having conceded in nine consecutive away matches without recording a victory, a run stretching back to last season.
Berekum Chelsea have also found the going difficult. The former league champions have managed three wins, two draws and four defeats in nine matches, collecting 11 points to sit 11th on the table.
They head into Sunday's encounter after suffering a defeat to Aduana Stars last weekend and will be keen to respond in front of their home supporters.
Chelsea have scored 10 goals and conceded nine this season, while Kotoko have found the net eight times and conceded eight. Both sides need a stronger run of results if they are to move closer to the top end of the table.
The head-to-head record offers some encouragement for Kotoko, who have won three of the six meetings between the clubs since May 2024. Chelsea have recorded one victory, with two matches ending in draws. Their most recent meeting in January 2026 finished goalless.
For Kotoko, Sunday's fixture is an opportunity to end their recent run of draws and show signs of progress. Chelsea, meanwhile, will hope home advantage can help them return to winning ways.
