CAF Champions League: Al Merreikh and Pyramids FC meet in Juba for first-leg tie

Al Merreikh of Sudan face Pyramids FC of Egypt at Juba Stadium in South Sudan on Friday, 16 October, in the first leg of their second preliminary-round tie in the CAF Champions League. Kick-off is scheduled for 13:00 GMT.

Al Merreikh have regularly played their home matches outside Sudan because of the situation in the country, and will aim to make the most of their opportunity in Juba by securing an advantage before the return fixture. They progressed past the previous round by beating Heegan FC and are seeking to continue their run in the continental competition.

Pyramids FC arrive with confidence after a convincing victory over Gor Mahia in the previous round, completing a 7-1 aggregate win. The Egyptian side will be looking for a positive result away from home to put themselves in a strong position for the second leg.

The match represents an important early test for both clubs as they pursue their ambitions in this season’s African campaign.
